Realistic PBR Viewmodel Rig for Blender (3.6+)
This rig is my first attempt at creating a view-model completely from the ground up.
(A Maya version is currently in the works.)
The idea started earlier this year, and only now am I finally deciding to sell it on here. Since my passion for viewmodel animation grew out of control after having spent years learning the ropes of 3D modelling, why not combine them both into one? Well, here's the culmination of that. My goal was to create a well-made realistic viewmodel rig with a lot of variety for use in both personal portfolio sets and games alike.
I will probably update this rig with additional models over time, so stay tuned for that!
Overview
Sculpted, textured, and rigged, each model present in this rig has had a ton of time and care put into it to ensure absolute quality. This project was a true test of my limits, but as they say, it can always be better. There may be issues with the rig that I'm unaware of, and if that is the case, please shoot me an email @ jordanw.3dartist@gmail.com and explain your issue. If it can be fixed, I will update the rig to do so.
Anyways, enough of the meandering, let's get into the nitty-gritty.
This rig features numerous quirks, but you can get started with the little wrench adjacent to the right arm.
From here, you can toggle through each of the different models in the side-menu properties that appear once its selected.
Feature List
-
IK Fingers
- Basic IK finger setup allows for easy manipulation of the finger digits.
-
Model Customization
- In the wrench menu, change between various models and configurations.
-
IK Forearm Twists
- Using an IK solver, this allows for more stable and accurate forearm twists.
-
4K Textures
- All models are textured in insanely crisp 4K resolution, and of course, you can downscale as much as you wish for optimization purposes. Utilizes Roughness/Metallic workflow with OpenGL normal maps. Flip the green channel on the normal map for DirectX compatibility.
-
High Fidelity Models
- All models are high fidelity to fit well in your next-gen game while still being relatively optimized. All possible combinations don't exceed more than 50K tris at a time.
- "OMP Delta" Gloves (Fingerless): 11,440 Tris
- "OMP Delta" Gloves (Default): 15,988 Tris
- Leather Gloves: 24,304 Tris
- Striped Jacket: 11,720 Tris
- "Baitman" Sport Sleeves: 10,498 Tris
- Bare Arms: 29,548 Tris
- All models are high fidelity to fit well in your next-gen game while still being relatively optimized. All possible combinations don't exceed more than 50K tris at a time.
See it in Action!
